With an announcement issued on 29 February 2024, the Cyprus Tax Authorities informed taxpayers that the deadline for submission of the declarations for Special Contribution for Defense (SCD) and General Health System (GESY) withheld on dividends and interest income is extended until 31 March 2024. This is due to various modifications that had to be made on the declarations, which are expected to be made available for submission in the following days.
However, as it is stressed in the announcement, the date of settlement of SCD and GESY contributions withheld for January 2024, remains the 29 February 2024 and the relevant payment should have been made through the Tax Portal. Payments made after the above-mentioned date will be subject to penalties and interest as per the provisions of the relevant legislation.
